Turkey Begins Gradually Lifting the Short Selling Ban in Equity Markets

The Capital Markets Board (“CMB” or “Board”) resolved that the short selling ban that was imposed on seven shares on 16 October 2019 would be valid for all equity markets within the scope of Bourse Istanbul A.Ş. as of 28 February 2020. In its press release dated 2 March 2020, the CMB stated that this short selling ban as well as other relevant measures would continue to be imposed on equity markets under Bourse Istanbul A.Ş. until further notice.
