Significant Regulations Introduced to Expedite Urban Regeneration

Following the earthquake disaster that struck our country in February 2023, an amendment to Law No. 6306 on the Regeneration of Areas Under Disaster Risk (“Law No. 6306”) entered the government’s agenda in order to expedite the urban regeneration process, especially with the earthquake expected in Istanbul in mind. For this purpose, the Law Amending the Law on the Regeneration of Areas Under Disaster Risk, Some Laws, and the Statutory Decree Law No. 375 (“Amendment”) was adopted and published in the Official Gazette No. 32364 dated 9 November 2023. Below is a summary of the important changes the Amendment foresees.
