The Regulation Amending the Electricity Market License Regulation (“Regulation”) has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force on 15 December 2017.
Some of the amendments introduced with the Regulation are as follows: Location of Data Processing Centers and Ensuring the Security of Confidential Information Prior to the enactment of the Regulation, license holders were exclusively allowed to establish or receive services from data processing centers located in Turkey for the purposes of processing and storing data related to their activities. The Regulation relieved this restriction. It is now possible for license holders to receive the above mentioned services from data processing centers located abroad. In addition, an obligation has been imposed on license holders to take all measures of technical and administrative precautions to ensure there are suitable security levels to prevent illegal access to and processing of data processed and/or stored by third parties and to procure confidentiality, integrity, and accessibility of such data.
