Ümit Hergüner

Ümit Hergüner is the senior partner of Hergüner Bilgen Üçer, which he co-founded in 1989. One of Türkiye's leading law firms, Hergüner is a full-service independent firm representing major international and national clients, including multilateral financial institutions, international energy companies, global corporations, contractors, and international funds. Mr. Hergüner heads the firm's transactional practice group, which is internationally renowned for its cross-border mergers & acquisitions and projects work, and has experience across a broad range of sectors and industries. His practice covers project finance, international finance and banking, foreign and strategic investments, and energy and extractive industries. He also provides expert advice on corporate governance, public policy, the rule of law, and related government affairs matters. Mr. Hergüner has held a number of public policy and advisory roles, both current and past, including his role as a member International Law Institute (ILI) Board and as founder and former President of ILI Istanbul Chapter. He also sits on the advisory boards of law faculties of İstanbul Bilgi University and Bilkent University law schools. A former President of the Corporate Governance Association of Türkiye (TKYD), Mr. Hergüner remains an active member and serves on its Advisory Board. His other affiliations include the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD), the Board Directors Association (YÜD), and the Global Relations Forum (GİF).
