Piraye Kuranel Başol

Piraye Kuranel Başol is a leader in Hergüner’s Banking & Finance practice group, advising on a full spectrum of financing transactions. She relies on over two decades of experience to craft efficient solutions for clients on every side of cross-border financing deals. She has extensive experience in compliance and is renowned for her ability to translate that know-how into building robust transactional structures.

Piraye represents international and local banks, international financial institutions (IFIs), international development banks (IDBs), export development banks (EDBs), corporations, and private clients. Some of her most significant work has included several multi-billion-dollar infrastructure-financing projects involving bank consortiums, including IFIs. As an expert in access to lending, she understands banks' priorities and government stakeholders' concerns, and has led project teams on two landmark municipality financing cases involving bond issuances totaling USD 1.2 billion.

Piraye also advises on restructuring, refinancing, and negotiations with government stakeholders on PPP projects and provides clear, solutions-oriented thinking when projects face obstacles and setbacks. She has guided lenders and borrowers through the full project life-cycle from pre-financing to post-closing and has demonstrated a keen awareness of limitations facing public institutions in various types of transactions.
