Overview of the M&A market

2015 was a year of caution for Turkey. The humanitarian crisis in Syria continued, inevitably affecting the rest of the region, including its neighbours. Another reason for caution was the political instability caused by parliamentary elections being held in June and again in November 2015. Turkey has also suffered from the currency fluctuations caused by anticipation of an interest rate increase by the Federal Reserve. The Turkish lira has lost value by nearly 25% against the US dollar in 2015.

Furthermore, the downing of a Russian warplane resulted in tension between the two countries, leading to uncertainties about the future of bilateral trade and investment.
